Manages the operation and maintenance of an advanced Wastewater Reclamation Facility (WWRF) to ensure compliance with regulatory procedures and practices.

Position reports to the Assistant Environmental Services Director.

Hiring Range: $60,300 - $84,300

Emergency Response Status:

As a condition of employment, all City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and Experience

  • Associates Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science / Environmental Policy, Public Administration or related technical program

  • A minimum of seven years experience in utilities management or an equivalent combination of higher level of education and/or experience

  • At least five years supervisory responsibility in plant operation and maintenance including performance management and improvement

  • Possession of a current State of Florida Class "A" Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license, or an out-of-state equivalent license at time of appointment

  • Valid Florida driver's license or valid license from another state to transfer within 30 days

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of machines, equipment, and operating practices of advanced wastewater treatment and of chemical and physical processes involved in treatment of wastewater.

  • Understanding of the principles of chemistry as used in the chemical and bacteriologic analyses of water samples.

  • Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards connected with plant operations and safety precautions.

  • Ability to:

    • read and interpret tests, gages, and meters used in regulating the operations of wastewater plants

    • make minor repairs to electrical and mechanical equipment

    • understand and follow complex written and oral instructions

    • establish working relationships with employees and the general public
      write in a clear and concise manner
