Training and Experience
Associates Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science / Environmental Policy, Public Administration or related technical program
A minimum of seven years experience in utilities management or an equivalent combination of higher level of education and/or experience
At least five years supervisory responsibility in plant operation and maintenance including performance management and improvement
Possession of a current State of Florida Class "A" Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license, or an out-of-state equivalent license at time of appointment
Valid Florida driver's license or valid license from another state to transfer within 30 days
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of machines, equipment, and operating practices of advanced wastewater treatment and of chemical and physical processes involved in treatment of wastewater.
Understanding of the principles of chemistry as used in the chemical and bacteriologic analyses of water samples.
Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards connected with plant operations and safety precautions.
read and interpret tests, gages, and meters used in regulating the operations of wastewater plants
make minor repairs to electrical and mechanical equipment
understand and follow complex written and oral instructions
establish working relationships with employees and the general public
write in a clear and concise manner
