Reliability Manager

The Reliability Manager provides engineering analysis and solutions to improve the plant’s overall operation, equipment reliability and performance and maintenance execution for the long-term continuous uninterrupted operation of plant assets.  Serves as the lead in managing the AlexRenew Asset Management program.  Collaboratively works with other staff to identify, prioritize and act upon AlexRenew needs.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

§  Develop and sustain asset management and value chain strategy and processes.

  • Manage and execute the Improvements Renewals & Replacements (IR&R) program.
  • Provide technical support to Maintenance Supervisors and craftpersons.
  • Provide system, administrative and technical support to maintain the security and data integrity for the plant’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Assist in the coaching, training and profesional development of departmental staff in the use of the plant’s CMMS and overall reliability áreas.
  • Develop, implement and oversee predictive maintenance (PDM) programs and preventive maintenance.
  • Provide leadership for troubleshooting and conducting failure modes, effects analyses; root cause analyses; and other statistical analyses.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a system where Operations and Maintenance manuals, drawings and other Information can be utilized quickly and efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance reliability reports.
  • Perform Life Cycle Analyses on plant equipment or facilities.
  • Develop Technical specs and review RFP’s, cost estimates, designs and consultant specifications for IRR and capital projects.
  • Provide Budget estimates for PDM, PM, updating the CMMS and other asset management needs.
  • Collaborate and interface with operations staff to ensure that planned work will not impact the facilities ability to meet permit and stay continuously compliant with all regulations.

§  Manage effects of change to equipment, establish change protocol, update documentation, and update procedures using established ISO/Virginia Environmental Excellence Program (VEEP)/EMS protocols.

§  Collaborating with capital planning personnel to identify high-value capital improvement projects and making department recommendations.

§  Stay abreast of new technology and product availability.

§  Act safely; model safe behaviors for others.

§  Other duties as required.


Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

§  Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field desired.

·         Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in field of asset management, with at least five (5) years of experience managing information and/or business support programs.

·         Or combination of education and experience as described above.

§  Knowledge of ISO standards, total quality management, environmental management systems preferred.

  • Excellent written communications skills; excellent oral skills, including public speaking, meeting facilitation and presentations.
  • Knowledge of project and program management including broad understanding of wastewater utility.
  • Business and financial acumen.

§  Problem solving skills and the ability to make quick but rational decisions.

  • Resilient and able to adapt to significant challenges.
  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines; ability to establish clear priorities quickly.

§  Ability to use computer software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS programs. 


Physical Demands:

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  A detailed Physical Demands Analysis is available in Human Resources and a copy will be provided to all incumbents in this position.


Strength demands are typical of office work, and include lifting up to 10 pounds, and minimal pushing or pulling.  Worker assists in manual labor tasks approximately once per quarter, and will move items out of the way during inspections, but these tasks are not part of the essential functions of the job. 


Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 


While performing the duties of this job, the employee performs work indoors in a climate controlled environment with outdoor trips between buildings and inspecting work within those buildings required.  The worker is required to wear personal protective equipment consistent with the nature of the work while outside the office.
