Utility Technician III

OWASA is seeking individuals to join our Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection team as a Utility Technician III.  This position assists in maintaining the water, sewer, and reclaimed water lines within OWASA’s water and sewer system.  

 

A Utility Technician III may cover the following areas:  Sewer Maintenance and Easements, Valve Maintenance, Water Service and Maintenance, Customer Service and Hydrant, Sewer Preventative Maintenance, and Construction. This position is exposed to all types of weather and outdoor elements; responds to on-call after hour emergencies as needed; uses a variety of hand tools and operates heavy equipment. Leads the team members in the absence of the Crew Supervisor. Responsible for the safety of themselves and the public by maintaining work zone safety through traffic control and other safety devices to safely work within the road right of way and/or easements.  

 

Position requires a high school diploma or GED, plus specialized schooling for water and sewer systems, with a minimum of two years’ experience. Requires a valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver’s License, Sewer Collection System Grade II or Water Distribution System Grade B certification. Physical requirements include exerting up to 100 pounds and walking/standing to a significant degree.
