Engineer or Associate Engineer (Wastewater Process)

The Metropolitan Council is the regional planning agency for the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area providing essential services to our region: transportation, wastewater treatment, growth and development of local communities, affordable housing programs, and regional park systems.  

Join an award-winning wastewater industry leader in protecting our environment!  The Metropolitan Council’s Environmental Services (ES) division operates and maintains the wastewater collection and treatment system in the Twin Cities metro area. 

We have one (1) vacancy for either an Engineer or Associate Engineer (depending on qualifications).

This position applies academic engineering knowledge with acquired practical experience in monitoring, optimizing, and troubleshooting processes and technical systems operated by ES.  Will accomplish bench, pilot, and/or full-scale testing to support those objectives and may accomplish tasks related to regulatory reporting.  

Minimum Qualifications for Associate Engineer

Salary Range:  $73,570- $119,413 annually

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or in a directly related area of discipline AND Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within six months of hire. Note: The FE exam replaces the former Engineering in Training (EIT) exam.  Requires a valid driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications for Engineer

Salary Range:  $79,581 - $129,064 annually

Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or in a directly related area of discipline AND At least two (2) years of related engineering experience AND Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within six months of hire. Note: FE exam replaces the former Engineering in Training (EIT).  Requires a valid driver's license.
