Director, Sewer Operations

DC Water has partnered with POLIHIRE in their search for its next Director of Sewer Operations. This key role is responsible for the overall strategic direction, oversight, regulatory compliance, and operational performance of the wastewater collection system. The successful candidate will direct field operations, maintenance, emergency response, and capital planning related to sewer infrastructure, ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant delivery of wastewater services.

The Director of Sewer Operations is responsible for the overall strategic direction, oversight, regulatory compliance, and operational performance of the wastewater collection system. This includes leading strategic planning, budgeting, and the implementation of operational improvements and emerging technologies, ensuring strict adherence to environmental and public safety regulations, managing comprehensive asset management programs, responding to operational emergencies, and overseeing complex contractual agreements. Additionally, the director is tasked with team leadership, personnel management, fostering interdepartmental collaboration, and engaging with high-ranking officials and the public.

The ideal candidate will have ten (10) years of progressive leadership in wastewater collection system operations, with at least five (5) years in a senior or executive management role. A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university is required.
