Manager, Marketing & Outreach
The National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) seeks a Manager, Marketing & Outreach with expertise in developing marketing plans, content and collateral and focus on using digital and other means to promote NACWA’s brand, advocacy, and events to a wide audience.
The person in this position is an energetic and creative marketer, writer and communicator. The Manager, Marketing & Outreach will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategy through all NACWA communications platforms, collateral, social media accounts, web content, and general branding material; writing all marketing materials and collateral; managing NACWA’s social media platforms; curating NACWA’s website and informational platforms; promote all NACWA events, webinars, and meetings; and performing basic in-house design functions.
- Help develop and implement a Marketing Strategy for the Association.
- Plan and execute marketing campaigns and
digital marketing/communication initiatives across multiple platforms to
support NACWA’s legislative, legal, regulatory, and communications advocacy,
including persuasive written and visual content that can be effective with a
variety of audiences such as Capitol Hill, federal environmental agencies, the
press, municipal utilities, and the public at large.
- Draft marketing and communications copy
according to needs of the Association and its members, including but not
limited to promotional copy, branding and public-facing collateral, and
marketing emails. Write and edit interesting content for web pages, blog,
e-newsletters, marketing emails, and other digital communications.
- Develop and execute marketing and promotion for
all NACWA events such as conferences, webinars, meetings, and grassroots campaigns,
writing and producing all branded collateral for each event.
- Help curate the Association’s publications and
information platforms including websites, e-newsletters, blog, magazine, and

creatively use them to brand the Association, increase audience, amplify
advocacy positions and issues, and support all marketing efforts.
- Provide basic graphic design expertise to
digitally produce visual marketing/communications collateral—digital and
print—and work with third-party designers and design firms where needed.
- Collaborate with internal staff teams to create
materials for NACWA events and member services.
- Collaborate with and manage third-party
marketing/communication vendors and printers, monitoring projects through all
phases of production.
The ideal candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in marketing or communications (equivalent work experience may be considered) and have three or more years of work experience in marketing and communications. The candidate must have excellent writing skills and be an excellent overall communicator, including written, oral, and interpersonal. Must have the ability to write clear and compelling copy a must - professional writing and editing experience preferred.
The candidate should be a creative thinker - able to translate creativity into campaigns, design, writing, and work. Experience with social media management tools such as Sprout Social or Hootsuite a plus.
They should also have basic proficiency in graphic design software— e.g., Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)—and fluency in MS Office applications. Also, able to work in both a collaborative environment and independently (self-starter) on multiple projects at once, often against tight deadlines, while providing status updates and progress reports to internal teams. Strong organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills a must, including keen attention to deadlines and timelines.
