The Assistant Business Unit Manager - Planning and Scheduling (Mechanical Maintenance) will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and prioritizing maintenance and repair activities for the Metropolitan Council's Environmental Services Division (MCES) wastewater treatment plants.   Will assist with day-to-day supervision of maintenance activities, staff, and contractors; and will assist in development and capital planning.


Hiring Salary Range: $78,125 -$88,670
Full Salary Range:  $78,125- $110,802

MCES is an operating division of the Metropolitan Council. MCES operates and maintains the wastewater collection and treatment system for the Minneapolis-St. Paul seven-county metropolitan area, which includes approximately 600 miles of regional sanitary sewers and eight regional wastewater treatment plants. Minimum Qualifications:

Four (4) year degree in mechanical technology or closely related field AND five (5) years of experience that must include the following:

  • Performing industrial equipment repair (servicing, maintaining, and installing pumps, compressors, generators, turbines, mechanical drives, hydraulic systems, etc. and machining, fabrication, and welding); and 
  • Two (2) years planning, scheduling, and/or work estimation experience; and
  • Two (2) years in a lead or supervisory role; and 
  • Valid driver's license.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Reliability Leader (CRL) from The Association of Asset Management Professionals (AMP)
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) from the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP)   
  • Experience in developing detailed scopes of work for competitive bid of maintenance repairs
  • Experience supervising contractors
